Dr. Eva Kraus, who became director of the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn in August 2020, is a renowned curator with experience in various cultural institutions. She has held positions such as artistic director and managing director of the Neues Museum–Staatliches Museum für Kunst und Design in Nuremberg, founder of Galerie Steinle Contemporary in Munich, and director of the Friedrich Kiesler in Vienna. Kraus recently curated the exhibition “Everything at Once: Postmodernity 1967–1992” at the Bundeskunsthalle, which explored design objects, artworks, and artifacts from the information society era to the end of the Cold War. Her expertise lies in applied arts, design, fashion, architecture, and contemporary art with a focus on sustainability.

Throughout her career, Kraus has curated exhibitions at renowned institutions such as the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York and the MAK Austrian Museum of Applied Arts/Contemporary Art in Vienna. She is dedicated to promoting ecologically and socially sustainable practices in the art world. Currently, Kraus is working on professionalizing sustainability at the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, where she resides, as well as in Munich. At the MA Curatorial Practice talk, she will delve into the behind-the-scenes process of curating “Everything at Once: Postmodernity 1967–1992.”

The Curatorial Roundtable, led by Steven Henry Madoff, founding chair of the MA Curatorial Practice at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, provides a platform for curators and institutional leaders to discuss significant and ongoing projects. Dr. Eva Kraus’ participation in this international forum will offer valuable insights into her curatorial practice and the innovative approaches she takes in creating exhibitions that reflect on the socio-cultural context of contemporary art and design.
