Como, the Serie A newcomers, have officially signed midfielder Yannik Engelhardt from Fortuna Dusseldorf in a deal worth around €8 million. The 23-year-old completed the transfer this evening, signing a five-year contract. The operation reportedly included €8 million in fees and an additional €1 million in performance-related bonuses. Engelhardt, a product of the Werder Bremen youth academy, previously played for SC Freiburg and was sold to Fortuna Dusseldorf for €3.8 million in 2023. Despite representing Germany at Under-18, Under-19, and Under-20 levels, he has not played in the Bundesliga and has experience in the second and third divisions of German football.

Como’s coach, Cesc Fabregas, expressed excitement about Engelhardt joining the team after a successful season in Germany. Fabregas praised Engelhardt’s energy and intelligence, highlighting the potential for him to develop and grow with Como. The club, which finished second in Serie B last season, has been active in strengthening the squad with notable signings like Emil Audero, Pepe Reina, Raphael Varane, Alberto Dossena, Alberto Moreno, and Andrea Belotti. Como is looking to build a competitive team for their return to Serie A and sees Engelhardt as a valuable addition to achieve their goals.
